The Golf Club has been in existance since 1899 and is a great place to play golf. The common is on the north side of the town with access via Common Lane. The club itself is voluntary run except for the part time greenkeeper who has transformed the greens back to their former glory.
The course consists of 9 holes varying from par 3’s through to a par 5, all laid out on what many call an inland links setting.
Although there are no bunkers or water on the course there is a lot of gorse and small, fast greens to make good course management a requirement for a good round.
The course is available for the public to play for a small green fee which covers them under the clubs public liability insurance.
During the week the green fees for adults are £10.00 for 18 holes/all day. Bank Holidays are £10.00 and Juniors are half price.
There are competitions every week, of which a high percentage are handicap qualifiers and various social nights throughout the year. The course is normally restricted to members on Saturday mornings for competitions. The course is open from 8am till dusk and all visitors are welcome but we do ask that all consideration is given to the other common users.
Please contact the Club Secretary on 01502 712244 or 07711 591604 for further information.
We have a old wooden pavillion clubhouse with a bar and function room, mens and ladies changing rooms. We do have social events at the clubhouse including a Presentation night and Summer disco.
We play on a nine hole inland links type course with 9 casual mens tees, 18 competition mens tees and 9 ladies competition tees. Although we have no bunkers or water on the course we do have very small greens, lots of out of bounds and even more gorse, which many shots are played over!
The competition tees are par 68 with a sss 66.
